Eichmann and Sassen interview

Rolf Günther

Eichmann’s standing deputy in RSHA section IV B 4.

About

Rolf Günther worked in Eichmann’s RSHA section and became his standing deputy. His duties covered anti-Jewish policy, deportation, and contact with IV B 4 staff outside Berlin.

He remained in the section while Eichmann traveled or worked in Hungary. He died in U.S. custody in August 1945, apparently by suicide.

In this interview

Eichmann repeatedly mentions Günther as his deputy. He says Günther received Müller’s orders, argued with Office VI, dealt with advisers, and stepped into transport talks.

The transcript’s Guenter and Günther forms often name Rolf Günther, but Hans Günther led the Prague Central Office for Jewish Emigration.
